Window Ancient Beech Forest
Only when humans stop intervening, new wilderness can evolve.
Man has left his mark here. Gnarled trees tell us stories of their historic usage, of times when man lived from the forest, when cattle were driven into the forest while firewood, hay and plaggen turf were collected from the forest. Man interrupted the natural cycle of growth and decay and took from the forest what was needed to survive. How did the forest develop? And it is also about unexplainable phenomena – the origins of myths and fairy tales.
