The Erlenbruch Carr
The alder-populated carr terrains, nowadays protected by law, are a relict of postglacial bog formation and an indicator of clay layers that hold the water. Their fens are high in nutrients and sometimes flooded. The existence of moor frogs was verified for the Dämmerwald. It is possible that this area was also drained and occasionally used as a wet meadow. Also, clay was extracted in this region.
